I have over a decade of experience as a writer, editor and educator in both formal and informal settings on a variety of different projects. I hold a B.A. in English and journalism from SUNY New Paltz and a M.Sc. in natural resources management from the University of Vermont. While completing my Master's, I worked at the Vermont State Climate Office under the direct supervision of the State Climatologist. My position, which was funded through a National Science Foundation grant, emphasized projects that boosted climate literacy among the general public through strategic written communication. Prior to this, I studied conservation biology at the University of Massachusetts, where my research focus was wolf ecology and management in the United States.
In the past I have held positions with the National Wildlife Federation, the Alaska Conservation Foundation and Green Seal, Inc. From 2007 to 2010, I was a regular contributing writer on health and the environment for Vermont Woman, an award-winning monthly magazine.
As an independent contractor, past projects of mine include copy editing an upcoming memoir by published non-fiction author and poet, Harvey Mudd and profiling nearly a dozen small-scale organic farms in Vermont for the Northeast Center for Sustainable Agriculture. Several of these articles were subsequently picked up for publication in Agriview, Country Folks, and Country Grower, but can also be viewed at the Center's website (http://www.uvm.edu/~susagctr/?Page=farmsuccess.html). More recently, I worked as writer and editor on the Union of Concerned Scientists' Climate Hot Map project (www.climatehotmap.org). Specifically, I authored the articles on areas in Alaska, Canada, and Siberian Russia.
Currently, I work as contract content editor for the curriculum development division of the Green Education Foundation and as a proofreader for the non-profit think tank, Root Cause.
